DEWI SARASWATI

The goddess of language, education, art and culture

DEWI means in languages of India goddess. DEWI SARASWATI gave language, writing, poetry, music and graphic art to the people. As a patroness of education, art and science she is depict in India and Bali with two or four arms. She is never shown without her vina, the string instrument of South India. In the four-arm version she takes a longish palm leaf book and a prayer-chain. She sits on a lotus blossom.

"DEWI SARASWATI Hamburg e.V." was founded 1992 and assist as a religios and political independent, tax acknowledged association the education of children, preferably girls especially in the south of India, but in Indonesia, too.
